Rachel Schochet, D.V.M., MS, DACVR
Southern California Veterinary Imaging

Dr. Rachel Schochet, D.V.M., MSDr. Rachel Schochet is Chief of Staff and a Board Certified Radiologist at Southern California Veterinary Imaging (SCVI), located in Culver City, California. On a daily basis, she monitors patients, reviews cases and x-rays, conducts CT scans and ultrasounds, and maintains close communication with the in-house and referring veterinarians. In addition, she works closely with her staff, and advises and often helps with training residents from other specialties.

Prior to receiving her DVM at Colorado State University in 2000, she earned a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Utah. Dr. Schochet completed a small animal internship at Wheatridge Animal Hospital in Wheatridge, Colorado in 2001. She then spent the next three years completing her radiology residency at Colorado State University, where she received her MS degree in 2004. It was then that she visited Veterinary Cancer Group and Advanced Critical Care and Internal Medicine in California, where she witnessed the level of commitment and the bond between pets and their owners at these specialty practices. She decided then that this was the place for her.

In 2005, Dr. Schochet opened Southern California Veterinary Imaging in Culver City, California. This branch office integrates advanced imaging for both specialty practices at City of Angels and also provides outpatient imaging services to the veterinarians of Los Angeles. Dr. Schochet believes that the most important part of her job is to ensure that SCVI’s patients receive the highest level of care, and she is committed to maintaining a superior level of communication with owners and referring veterinarians.

Dr. Schochet volunteers with several rescue groups that spay and neuter feral cats. She also diligently works to trap, spay, and neuter a colony of cats that lives close to her home in Long Beach, California. She shares her home with Elvis, the big red dog, Peepay, the little black dog, and three rescue cats.

Mike

Mike is SCVI’s Technician Supervisor. He performs CT scans, helps with diagnostic and therapeutic nuclear medicine, assists with ultrasound, and is very busy with administrative work to keep the hospital running smoothly. Mike transitioned from careers in banking and software to the veterinary field, as it was more fulfilling and closer to his heart. Mike’s previous software experience helped him learn and operate the CT and MRI machines, nuclear medicine’s Nuc Mac software, and to understand the DICOM standard. Mike has a one year old mixed breed named Reese. She was rescued by the City of Angels Specialty Center. They spend a lot of their time hiking at Kenneth Hahn Park or playing at the dog park!
