UltraSound
Ultrasound, along with radiography, is the most common diagnostic imaging procedure used to detect and monitor disease. Ultrasound uses sound waves at different frequencies to image the heart and abdominal structures, and provides excellent detail of soft tissue structures.
Ultrasound offers a non-invasive method for the diagnosis and staging of many diseases. Ultrasound technology does not utilize radiation; therefore, it does not have any harmful side effects or cumulative effects on the patient, and in most cases sedation is not necessary. In addition, we offer outpatient ultrasound as a convenience for our patients, and are able to provide same-day access to ultrasound diagnostics.
Abdominal ultrasounds and thoracic radiographs are excellent screening tests for middle-aged to older pets for detection of disease at an early treatable stage.
